Vol. 542 No. 6

Written Answers. - Health Insurance.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

227 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will ensure a person (details supplied) in County Limerick receives a full and detailed explanation from the VHI in relation to queries this person has raised on the method of calculating refunds to VHI subscribers. [25566/01]

The day-to-day operations of the schemes of health insurance offered by the Voluntary Health Insurance Board, and queries relating thereto from customers, are a matter for the board and I do not have any statutory or administrative role in such operations. I have, however, had inquiries made in connection with the Deputy's question, which have established that, by letter dated 18 June 2001, the VHI board set out for the member concerned the basis on which the refund due in this instance had been calculated.
