Vol. 543 No. 1

Written Answers. - Company Liquidation.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

102 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if the liquidation of a company (details supplied) has been completed; and if former employees will be informed of their entitlements. [25693/01]

Former employees, including the employee mentioned by the Deputy, have received all entitlements under the redundancy and insolvency payments schemes. The total paid out under the two schemes was a sum of £890,304. From inquiries made to the Liquidator's Office, I understand that the liquidation is not yet completed.

The liquidator is involved in the preparation of submissions on matters which are ongoing before the court examiner concerning the adjudication on various preferential and other claims. If any surplus assets are available, the question of a dividend may arise; however, this is a matter still under adjudication and, when finally decided, will be a matter for the liquidator to inform the employees and to make any further payments due to them, as creditors, in the liquidation process.
