Vol. 543 No. 1

Written Answers. - Health Services.

Bernard Allen

Question:

196 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will investigate the delay which arose in the case of a person (details supplied) who was not taken into the care of the Southern Health Board until one year after gardaí notified the board of an investigation, and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25824/01]

The Deputy will appreciate that it is not appropriate to comment in detail on individual child wel fare cases. The Southern Health Board which has statutory responsibility under the Child Care Act, 1991, in respect of the child protection and welfare aspects of the matters referred to by the Deputy has informed my Department that it has at all times provided an active and appropriate response in the case.
