Vol. 543 No. 1

Written Answers. - An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha.

John Bruton

Question:

222 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha receives block grants from the Government and his Department; the amount of the grant which An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha has received since 1995; if there are accounting procedures in place to oversee the enactment of grants by An Coimisiún; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25712/01]

My Department provides an annual grant of £1,000 to An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha. The total funding issued by my Department since 1995 is £6,000. This funding is provided towards the organisation's general operational expenses. No funding has issued to the organisation to date in 2001. There are a number of procedures governing the payment of the grant, including the submission of audited accounts and a statement that their tax affairs are in order. My Department does not have any involvement with the disbursement of funding by An Coimisiún.
