Vol. 543 No. 1

Order of Business (Resumed).

When will the Fisheries (Amendment) Bill come before the Dáil?

The Fisheries (Amendment) Bill is before the committee at present.

When will it come before the Dáil?

Clearly whenever it is finished in committee.

Thar cheann An Chomhaontais Ghlais, ba mhaith liomsa, chomh maith, cómhbhrón a dhéanamh le bean chéile agus le muintir Éamon Kelly. Bhain mé an-taitneamh as a chuid scéalaíochta agus a chomhluadar i mBaile Brigín san óstán Bracken Court le déanaí, agus tá súil go mbeidh a leithéid arís ann, ach is ar éigean é.

Regarding the railway safety Bill, is it being sponsored by the correct Department as it deals with a railway system which was largely laid in the 1840s? Perhaps it would be more appropriate if it was sponsored by the Department of Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands. Will the Bill be published in tandem with much greater investment in increasing track capacity?

The Deputy is being disorderly. He should confine his question to when legislation is due.

We were told by the Tánaiste that the national development plan will be fine in terms of all that work, but it will not be adequate to increase capacity.

The Deputy's question is not in order.

Will the railway safety Bill be published in tandem with much greater resourcing for increased track capacity? Otherwise we will not be able to—

The provisions of the Bill are not an issue at this stage.

It is appropriate that we deal with the matter.

The Deputy is being disorderly. I call Deputy Durkan.

I did not get an answer.

That is because you were being disorderly. You will not get an answer.

There is no interest in the railways.

Has the Government any legislative proposals to speed up the achievement of the various objectives outlined in the national development plan?

Is there legislation in this regard?

Regarding Deputy Sargent's question, the legislation will be published this session. Regarding Deputy Durkan's question, there is no such legislation promised.

Will the Tánaiste, in her capacity as Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, say if she is aware that the chief executive of Shannon Development has warned of widespread job losses in the mid-west and west—

Is this question related to legislation?

—because of cuts already taken in Aer Lingus flights into Shannon Airport.

The Deputy knows she must ask a question on legislation.

Yesterday an industrialist said he might have to move 500 jobs to another European country—

The Deputy has other ways to raise the matter.

—because of Government policy.

There are provisions under Standing Orders for the Deputy to raise that matter in an orderly way.

I am asking about promised legislation.

The Deputy is not in order.

I am asking about aviation legislation. Is there any consideration—

That concludes the Order of Business.

There are jobs being lost because of the Government's U-turn on Aer Lingus.
