Vol. 543 No. 2

Written Answers. - Córas Iompair Éireann.

David Stanton

Question:

200 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the subvention paid to respective companies in Córas Iompair Éireann each year for the past three years; the amount to be paid in 2001; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [26681/01]

The subvention paid to CIE for the last three years is as follows:

1998

£107m (135.861m)

1999

£113.004m (143.485m)

2000

£149.781m (190.182m)

The allocation of the subvention between the three operating companies is a matter for the board of CIE. However, I understand that the breakdown between the companies was as follows:

1998

1999

2000

Iarnród Éireann

£92.505m(117.457m)

£93.950m(119.291m)

£104.932m(133.236m)

Bus Éireann

£5.600m(7.110m)

£5.810m(7.377m)

£12.410m(15.757m)

Bus Átha Cliath

£8.895m(11.294m)

£13.244m(16.816m)

£32.439m(41.189m)

The subvention for CIE for 2001 is £159.06 million, 201.964 million. The final allocation of the 2001 subvention between the three companies will not be known until the end of the year.
