Vol. 543 No. 2

Written Answers. - Transport Safety.

Jim Mitchell

Question:

202 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if her attention has been drawn to the fact that Broombridge railway station has been vandalised to such an extent that passengers have no shelter against bad weather; her views on the prevailing situation in which Iarnród Éireann fails to take effective steps to protect either physical infrastructure or the safety and security of its passengers; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [26902/01]

The matter to which the Deputy refers is a day-to-day operational matter for Iarnród Éireann. However, the company has informed me that the continuing level of vandalism at Broombridge station is a source of great concern to it and the company is liasing with the local gardaí on the matter.
