Written Answers. - Bovine Diseases.

John V. Farrelly

Question:

244 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will implement in full the live valuation systems for all reactors to all farmers who have tuberculosis or brucellosis reactors; and his views on whether the present system is working well. [26212/01]

Paul Connaughton

Question:

265 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will revive the live animal valuation scheme for tuberculosis and brucellosis reactors; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26452/01]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 244 and 265 together.

Following detailed discussions between my Department and the farming organisations, the on-farm market valuation has been phased in since February 2001 for certain TB and brucellosis breakdown situations. Discussions are continuing in relation to the further rolling out of the scheme.
