Vol. 543 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

John Perry

Question:

290 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the steps he has put in place to ensure that a slatted house grant will be awarded to a person (details supplied); if an additional payment will be made to allow for the interest charges imposed by his bank; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26629/01]

Payment of £8,426.23 has issued to the person named under the national scheme for the control of farm pollution. Payment of grant aid under this scheme had been awaiting approval from the EU to raise the overall limit of this national expenditure. Following extensive negotiations between my Department and the Commission, this limit has now been raised, allowing the outstanding payments to be made.

There is no provision for the payment of interest on grant aid due to applicants. Accordingly, the grant paid is the maximum allowable.
