Vol. 543 No. 2

Written Answers. - Farm Retirement Scheme.

Willie Penrose

Question:

298 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he has received an application for participation in the early retirement scheme from farming from a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath; the position regarding same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26919/01]

The person named submitted an application for the early retirement scheme on 10 July 2001. The application was deemed invalid by my Department's inspectorate on 17 September 2001. On the same date a notice of rejection, detailing the reasons, issued to the person named. When an application is deemed invalid in this way, the applicant is given the right to appeal the decision within ten working days of the notice of rejection. No appeal was received from or on behalf of the person named, and to date no further application has been received.
