Data on marriages are routinely published in the annual and quarterly reports on vital statistics compiled by the Central Statistics Office. The most recent figures available refer to January to June 2001 and indicate a provisional rate of 174.6 per 100,000 population, 6.8 below that for the corresponding period of 2000. The rates for the years 1970 to 2000 are provided in the following table.
