Vol. 543 No. 2

Written Answers. - Medical Cards.

John McGuinness

Question:

394 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a medical card has not been issued to a person (details supplied) in County Carlow; if the inspectors' reports will now be examined; and if the issue of the medical care will be expedited. [26319/01]

The issue of the determination of the eligibility of persons for medical cards is, by legislation, a matter for the chief executive officer of the relevant health board. Accordingly, I have referred this case to the chief executive officer of the South-Eastern Health Board and asked that he have the matter investigated and revert to the Deputy directly when his investigation is complete.
