Vol. 543 No. 2

Written Answers. - Respite Care Places.

Jack Wall

Question:

452 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of respite places available in the Eastern Regional Health Authority and in the South-Western Area Health Board; if he has satisfied himself with the number; the plans he has to increase the number to meet demand; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26956/01]

I am advised that the number of respite places currently available in the Eastern Regional Health Authority is 155 and of these 34 places are within the South-Western Area Health Board.

The provision of health services in the Eastern Regional Health Authority area is a matter for that authority. I have asked the chief executive of the authority to reply directly to the Deputy with details of plans to increase the number of beds to meet demand.
