Question:

588 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs if he will allocate funding to the Mayo Rape Crisis Centre in Castlebar, County Mayo. [26024/01]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 587 and 588 together.

My Department does not have responsibility for funding of rape crisis centres-services. Such services-centres come within the remit of the Department of Health and Children and the health boards. I understand the group indicated in the Deputy's question has made an application to the Western Health Board which may be in a position to advise the Deputy further in this regard. My Department has no record of receiving an application from the group indicated in the Deputy's question. However, if the Deputy has any further information regarding any such application, my Department's regional office will be happy to check the position for him.
