Vol. 543 No. 2

Written Answers. - Garda Recruitment.

Dick Spring

Question:

651 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform his views on whether he has an obligation to invite those persons who were rejected on height grounds in the past for entry to the Garda Síochána, and were otherwise eligible, to re-apply for entry to the Garda Síochána following the removal of regulations on height requirements. [25924/01]

Applicants from competitions for which recruitment has concluded who did not meet the criteria for recruitment of trainees in force in relation to such competitions such as the height requirement are free to apply again provided they meet all the requirements in force in terms of age, education etc. at the time of a new competition.
