Vol. 543 No. 2

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

John Ellis

Question:

685 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when an application for a dealing will be completed for a person (details supplied) in County Sligo. [26352/01]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49 – acquisition of title by virtue of long possession – of the Registration of Title Act, 1964, which was lodged on 16 October 2000. I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of claims for registration as owners, can take some time to process.

I am further informed that queries issued to the lodging solicitors on 22 August 2001 and that a part reply to these queries was received on 16 October 2001. I understand that this application cannot proceed until a full and satisfactory reply to the queries of 22 August 2001 has been received. On receipt of a satisfactory reply, the application will be dealt with as soon as possible.
