Vol. 543 No. 2

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

John Bruton

Question:

736 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science his proposals to assist the Gaelscoil in County Meath to locate to new premises; if his Department will provide funds of £75,000 which the Gaelscoil must pay to the local authority in ancillary and site fees arising as a result of moving to an interim site; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25906/01]

My Department has received an application for grant aid from the Gaelscoil in question towards the cost of moving to an alternative temporary site. The Department has recently written to the school authorities advising them of the basis on which it would be prepared to fund the costs in question. It is the responsibility of individual primary school management authorities to identify suitable temporary accommodation pending the provision of permanent accommodation. My Department is prepared to grant-aid any reasonable rental and associated costs related to the provision of such accommodation, on the basis set out in the letter to the school authorities.
