Vol. 543 No. 4

Written Answers. - Housing Grants.

Richard Bruton

Question:

125 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the estimated cost of sites provided for the affordable housing scheme; and the number of beneficiaries. [27383/01]

As the implementation of the affordable housing scheme is a matter for local authorities, information on the cost of sites for the purpose of the scheme is available in my Department only in respect of individual projects for which authorities claim a subsidy to meet the cost of such sites. To date this year, my Department has paid just over £2 million in site subsidy in respect of 101 new houses provided under the scheme. The purchase price of individual sites involved ranged from £11,000 to £32,300.
