Vol. 543 No. 4

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Noel Ahern

Question:

182 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Education and Science the situation in relation to a request for extra teaching resources for the Holy Child School in Dublin 9; the number of children needing extra attention in the school; if the case of a person (details supplied) is being considered; if the results of the assessment are available; and if one to one attention is required and will be provided. [27373/01]

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that following a review of the needs of the school in question by my Department's inspectorate, an allocation of 17.5 hours resource teaching support has recently been sanctioned for seven children with special needs attending the school. This allocation includes 2.5 hours resource teaching support per week for the child mentioned by the Deputy.
