Vol. 543 No. 4

Written Answers. - GMS Vaccination Forms.

Bernard Allen

Question:

89 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will investigate the confidentiality dispute regarding the new GMS STC forms. [27356/01]

I assume the Deputy is referring to the form sent by the GMS payments board to general practitioners to allow for payments to be made to them in respect of patient vaccinations. These forms provide the means to verify the payment due to the doctor where the patient is entitled to the vaccination free of charge. For example, where the patient is under 65 years but qualifies because he or she is a patient from one of the at risk groups.

The forms, having been signed by the vaccinating doctor, are then seen only by the personnel in the board's accounts section who administer the payment scheme and I do not consider that any confidentiality issues arise.
