Question:

290 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of administrative posts created in each health board each year since 1995; and the number of new medical posts created in that time in each health board. [27441/01]

The numbers of management-administrative and medical personnel employed by each health board are as set out below. The Deputy should note that the grade category of management-administrative also includes staff who are of direct service to patients, such as consultants' secretaries, community welfare officers, out-patient department personnel, ward clerks, medical records personnel and telephonists, who are engaged in front line duties. Indeed, it has recently been estimated that up to two-thirds of management-administrative posts fall into this category.
