Question:

536 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will reconsider the requirement that persons applying for the post of lecturer at third level must have obtained a master's degree by examination. [27947/01]

In accordance with the relevant statutory provisions, the academic requirements attaching to posts in the universities and the institutes of technology are matters for the individual colleges concerned and I have no function in the matter.
