Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Ring – to ask the Minister for Education and Science to immediately sanction funding for renovations and development of Ardagh national school, Crossmolina, County Mayo; (2) Deputy Rabbitte – the reason education welfare officers have not been appointed for the Tallaght area; (3) Deputy Tom Hayes – when approval will be given for the provision of two additional classrooms for Ballyclerihan national school, County Tipperary; (4) Deputy Gormley – the need to provide adequate resources to the agencies charged with responsibility for devising and implementing road safety policy; (5) Deputy Connaughton – the dispute concerning poor working conditions for Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development staff at Hynes Building, Galway, and the resultant problems for farmers; (6) Deputy Michael Higgins – An tábhacht atá ag baint le cláracha agus fostaíocht i Raidió na Gaeltachta a chosaint; (7) Deputy Perry – the urgent need for a new school for Ardkeeran national school, County Sligo; (8) Deputy Higgins (Mayo)– the circumstances surrounding the two locomotives which travelled unmanned for approximately three miles on Thursday last from Arklow station in the direction of Rathdrum and the possible disastrous consequences had the Connolly-Rosslare passenger train not been intercepted; (9) Deputy Healy – the development of greyhound racing facilities, particularly for development of the Clonmel dogtrack in view of statements made by the Minister (details supplied); and (10) Deputy McGinley – the imminent closure of EPI industry in Gweedore with the loss of 25 jobs due to the planned levy on plastic bags.

The matters raised by Deputies Higgins (Mayo), Connaughton, Gormley and McGinley have been selected for discussion.
