Vol. 544 No. 2

Written Answers. - Roads Funding.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

112 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when he will sanction the final phase of finance for the ring road for Tramore, County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28364/01]

Waterford County Council submitted two applications for funding for the Tramore ring road, phase 4 and phase 5, under the investment programme for non-national road schemes, supporting residential and other development. On 14 December 2000, Waterford County Council was notified that the Tramore ring road, phase 4, was among the 43 projects selected for funding under this programme. A sum of £675,000, 857,073, was allocated to the scheme in 2001. Phase 5 was not one of the projects selected for funding under this programme. However, it remains open to the council to prioritise this scheme for funding, when submitting applications under the EU co-financed specific improvement grant scheme for 2002. The deadline for the receipt of applications under this scheme is 23 November 2001. Allocations to local authorities under this and all other non-national road grant categories will be announced early in 2002.
