Vol. 544 No. 2

Written Answers. - Blackstock Report.

Michael Ring

Question:

63 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education and Science if he is committed to the full implementation of the Blackstock Report. [28236/01]

The Blackstock report on the funding of second level schools represents a comprehensive review of the funding arrangements of post-primary schools. I wish to assure the Deputy that it is my intention that the Blackstock report will inform policy on future school funding. My priority is to focus on the adequacy of funding and, in this connection, recent developments include significant improvements in the level of per capita grants. I am, however, also committed to equity of funding and I intend to build further on progress to date in the light of available resources.

Question No. 64 answered with Question No. 13.
