Question:

168 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Defence the amount of capital expenditure which was spent by his Department since July 1997 to 1 November 2001; the percentage of this which was spent in County Wicklow; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29276/01]

Capital expenditure which includes buildings, office machinery and communications and information technology equipment totalling £85 million has been spent by my Department from July 1997 to 1 November 2001.

Expenditure on the barrack reinvestment programme accounted for £36.5 million while expenditure on the normal building programme was £41 million with investment in County Wicklow accounting for 5% of this latter total. Details are sent out in the following tabular statement:
