Written Answers. - Community Employment Schemes.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

112 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if she has reached an agreement with the Department of Education and Science that all school based community employment participants with a legitimate expectation of up to three years participation in a school-based community employment scheme will be facilitated to complete their full term; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [29095/01]

Following consultations with the Department of Education and Science and FÁS, it has been agreed that all school-based community employment participants with a legitimate expectation of up to three years participation will be facilitated to complete their full engagement in their school project, and where the participant has expressed a personal wish to remain on in the school to see out the full CE term.

FÁS has responsibility for the administration of the CE programme and will consider the position of individual participants on a case by case basis.
