Question:117 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when guidelines will be issued in Leader groups in relation to the consideration and approval of the grant aid of projects. [29383/01]

On 6 November 2001, the new Leader+ and the national rural development programmes were launched and contracts signed with the selected local action groups.
Guidelines on the consideration and approval of the grant aid of projects, or operating rules as they are known, were issued to the local action groups on 14 November. The operating rules are subject to compliance with EU and national requirements and apply to the implementation of the business plan and supplement the terms and conditions of the legally binding agreement which sets out the general basis on which the group will operate.
A copy of the rules will be supplied separately to the Deputy.
