Vol. 545 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Jim Higgins

Question:

157 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason for the delay in payment of a suckler cow grant to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [29833/01]

The person named applied on 25 cows under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme. Delay in payment has occurred because the applicant did not identify the breed of one of the animals he applied on under the scheme when completing his herd reconciliation form. This has now been rectified and payment will be made within the next seven days.

Michael Ring

Question:

158 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason beef premium, area based payment and other payments due to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo have not been received. [29834/01]

The person concerned has to date submitted six applications, in respect of 100 animals, for the 2001 special beef premium scheme. Three animals were deleted for payment purposes as payments had already been made in respect of first stage premium and the animals concerned were not eligible for the second stage of the special beef premium at the time of application. Payment of £5,312.58 issued on 8 November 2001 in relation to 80% of the premium due on 62 animals. Payment will issue on the remaining 35 animals when outstanding issues in relation to information on the cattle movement monitoring system, CMMS, in respect of these animals have been resolved.

There are no outstanding payments due to the person named for the slaughter premium scheme 2000 and 2001. The person named was paid £3149.94 under the 2001 area based compensatory allowance scheme on 25 September 2001 in respect of 45 hectares of more severely handicapped land at £70 per hectare. This compares with his average headage payment of £2657.60 under the old animal based headage schemes in the three years 1998, 1999 and 2000.

The person named was paid the first and second instalments of the 2001 ewe premium on the 2 August and 19 August last and he will be paid his 80% entitlement under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme within the next fortnight.
