Vol. 545 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Andrew Boylan

Question:

161 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a REP scheme payment has not been made to a person (details supplied) in County Cavan; and if a payment will be made. [29882/01]

The person named joined REPS on 1 January 2000 under the transitional arrangements which were then in place pending the introduction of the new scheme. Later in 2000 his plan was selected by my Department for a full check. This check raised questions about the area farmed and the eligibility for REPS of lands included in his plan. These prob lems were notified to him and to his REPS planner in October 2000. Additional documentation which he provided in February 2001 did not address the issues and he was informed of this.

A REPS 2000 application received by my Department in May 2001 has been examined in detail and while it goes further to address some of the issues raised, my Department has requested additional legal documentation in order to finalise the matter and to enable payment to be made to the person named.

Question:

162 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a payment of area aid will be made to a person (details supplied); if his attention has been drawn to the hardship caused to the person due to the delay in payment; and if payment will be expedited. [29883/01]

The 2001 area aid application for the person named was randomly selected for inspection in accordance with EU regulations. This inspection will be carried out as soon as possible and when the results are returned to the area aid unit the application will be processed without delay. Payment due under the 2001 area based compensatory allowance scheme will then be made to the person named.
