Vol. 545 No. 1

Written Answers. - EU Regulations.

Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin

Question:

163 Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will initiate early consultations with an association (details supplied) regarding EU proposals on prescription only animal medicines. [29884/01]

The association referred to has outlined in a written submission to me its position on the European Commission's proposals to make all medicines for food producing animals subject to prescription control. I have already assured the House that the views of all stakeholders will be fully taken into account in formulating at the appropriate time a national position on the Commission's proposal to bring all medicines for food-producing animals under prescription control, as well as on other aspects of the Commission's proposals affecting veterinary medicines.
