Vol. 545 No. 1

Written Answers. - Cattle Destruction Scheme.

John Bruton

Question:

165 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development his plans to dispose of meat and bonemeal arising from the recent application of a cattle destruction scheme; and if the waste in question is to be kept in its present condition indefinitely. [29886/01]

In the absence of incineration facilities in Ireland, arrangements are currently being made for the incineration abroad of the stock of meat and bonemeal held by my Department as a result of the operation of the purchase for destruction, PFD scheme, which ended on 30 June last.
