189 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Health and Children the steps he will take to have a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath admitted to Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital, Finglas, Dublin 11 for joint replacement surgery; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29532/01]

Responsibility for the provision of health services to persons living in County Westmeath rests with the Midland Health Board. My Department has therefore asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and to reply to him directly.

Question:

190 Mr. B. Hayes asked the Minister for Health and Children the steps which can be taken in the case of a person (detail supplied) in County Tipperary; when an operation will take place; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29556/01]

The provision of medical services in this instance is the responsibility of the Mid-Western Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this case and reply to the Deputy directly.
