Vol. 545 No. 1

Written Answers. - Medical Cards.

Question:

233 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Health and Children the position regarding an application by a person (details supplied) in Dublin 8 for a medical card; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30022/01]

Responsibility for the provision of medical cards to eligible persons rests with the chief executive officer of the relevant health board, in this case the South-Western Area Health Board. Accordingly, my Department has asked him to investigate the matter and to report directly to the Deputy.

Enda Kenny

Not all of the details required by the Deputy are available in my Department. My Department has referred the matter to the chief executive officer of the Western Health Board and asked her to furnish the balance of the information requested directly to the Deputy.
