Vol. 545 No. 1

Written Answers. - Television Reception.

Michael Ring

Question:

280 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands when the television reception will be improved in an area (details supplied) in County Mayo; and if she will ensure that RTE provides the required booster for this improvement. [29520/01]

The issue raised by the Deputy, in relation to RTE coverage, is the day-to-day responsibility of the RTE Authority and I have no statutory function in the matter.

In accordance with long standing custom, I am prepared to furnish to the House information supplied by RTE in response to questions relating specifically to improvements in reception of RTE's national broadcasting services.

RTE informs me that, having examined its files, it has no record of correspondence from viewers in the area referred to by the Deputy regarding the quality of television reception. It also confirmed that this area is not included in its coverage extension programme.
