Vol. 545 No. 1

Written Answers. - Garda Investigations.

Tony Gregory

Question:

288 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will request a report from the Garda authorities detailing the action they have taken arising from the breaches of the peace at a location (details supplied); if they have established that the organisers have the required licences; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29548/01]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that on the night of 17 November, several calls were received at Whitehall Garda station in relation to loud noise levels coming from the new stand area of Tolka Park at Richmond Road. It was established that a disco was held from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Following the disco there were several Public Order disturbances on Richmond Road. Gardaí attended the scene and dispersed the youths involved and no arrests were made.

I am further informed by the Garda authorities that on the evening of 24 November local gardaí inspected a dance being held at Shelbourne football club, and that this matter is now under investigation by gardaí at Whitehall Garda station.
