Question:

299 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number by gender who have been members of the Garda Síochána for five years; the number between five and ten years; the number between ten and 15 years; the number between 15 and 20 years; the number between 20 and 25 years; and the number in excess of 25 years. [29901/01]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the information sought by the Deputy with regard to those members serving at 23 November 2001 is as set out as follows. Serving up to five years: Male, 2,150; Female, 755. Five to ten years: Male, 1,185; Female, 355. Ten to 15 years: Male, 566; Female, 66. 15 to 20 years: Male, 1,956; Female, 253. 20 to 25 years: Male, 1,590; Female, 54. Over 25 years: Male, 2,791; Female, 14.
