Vol. 545 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Refurbishment.

Liam Aylward

Question:

338 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will outline, further to Parliamentary Question No. 1084 of 3 October 2001, the progress which has since been made with regard to both projects. [29837/01]

In relation to the proposed refurbishment works at the school to which the Deputy refers, officials in my Department have completed their review of the last submission by the appointed design team. This team has been requested to prepare a condition report to my Department on the existing mechanical and electrical services at the school, bearing in mind that these elements account for the majority of the increase in the cost estimates of the works. The report is awaited. The planning unit of my Department is determining the long-term projected enrolment figures for the centre, so that the size of the PE hall to be provided is known. These figures should be available early in the new year.
