Written Answers. - Pension Provisions.

Seán Ryan

Question:

343 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will report on the recommendations of the equality officer in respect of a case brought by SIPTU against Trinity College, Dublin, for pension rights for permanent part-time workers; and the reason the recommendation of the equality officer is not being implemented. [29842/01]

Tony Gregory

Question:

360 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason the decision of the equality officer that part-time staff in Trinity College, Dublin be admitted to the same pension scheme as that for full-time staff has not been sanctioned by his Department; if he will initiate a review of this matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29922/01]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 343 and 360 together.

I am pleased to inform the Deputies that I have given approval to Trinity College, Dublin to implement the recommendation of the equality officer in this case. The college authorities are working on the details.
