Written Answers. - Nuclear Plants.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

83 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the progress in legal actions against nuclear installations in Britain, including the STAD legal action; and if parallel diplomatic work is to commence to ensure that workers at installations such as Sellafield are aware that employment exists for them in cleaning up and safe storage of waste in the United Kingdom and around the world. [29769/01]

As regards progress in the legal actions against nuclear installations in Britain, I refer the Deputy to my composite reply to Questions Nos. 54, 84 and 121 today. The STAD legal action is an action being taken by the STAD group against Ireland, the Attorney Gen eral and BNFL and progress of this action is a matter for the STAD group. As regards the question of parallel diplomatic work to highlight employment opportunities in nuclear clean-up operations for nuclear installation workers, I refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 162 tabled by the Deputy on 21 November 2001.

Question No. 84 answered with Question No. 54.
