Vol. 545 No. 4

Written Answers. - Emergency Telephone Repairs.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

132 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the arrangements in place for emergency repairs to a telephone line; the costs involved; and if the costs are payable where the disruption of service is caused by the telephone provider. [30480/01]

I have no function in this matter. The arrangements for emergency repairs of telephone lines are subject to the quality of service provisions contained in Statutory Instrument No. 71 of 1999 the European Communities (Voice Telephony and Universal Service) Regulations, 1999. The Office of the Director of Telecommunications Regulation has responsibility for the monitoring and implementation of such provisions.
