Vol. 545 No. 4

Written Answers. - Milk Quota.

Liam Aylward

Question:

173 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if an appli cation for additional milk quota will be awarded to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30416/01]

No record exists of any application from the named person for additional milk quota either under the scheme for the temporary allocation of quota due to restrictions caused by the foot and mouth crisis or under the milk quota appeals tribunal schemes dealing with hardship cases or animal disease. If the named person wishes to apply to my Department under these schemes he should do so before 18 January 2002. Application forms are available from his co-operative or dairy or my Department.

The Deputy will be aware that I recently announced a scheme for the allocation of approximately seven million gallons to certain small and medium scale active milk producers who had farm development plans in the early 1980s or whose herds were adversely affected by animal disease in the late 1970s. Application forms for this scheme are also available from my Department or from co-operatives or dairies. The closing date in this case is 31 January 2002. The person named did receive an allocation of 690 gallons last year from the additional quota available under Agenda 2000.
