Question:271 Mr. Noonan asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has given financial clearance to the Mid-Western Health Board to proceed with the recruitment of an additional vascular surgeon for the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in County Limerick; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that a report on vascular surgery stated that there was a requirement for three vascular surgery posts in the mid-west region; if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that members of the public presenting with acute vascular emergencies in the Mid-Western Health Board region are at risk while only two vascular surgeons are employed; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
