Vol. 545 No. 4

Written Answers. - Health Boards Investigation.

Paul McGrath

Question:

274 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has recently received a report from the Comptroller and Auditor General regarding an investigation of certain health boards and the payment of moneys to hospital residents; the date this report was received; and when he intends to publish this report. [30986/01]

The Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General submitted a report on nursing home subventions to my Department on 1 October 2001. The contents of the report are being studied in my Department. As the Deputy is aware, Article 11(3)(f2>b) of the Comptroller and Auditor General (Amendment) Act, 1993, provides that the Minister of the Government to whom a copy of a report is submitted shall cause a copy of the report to be laid before Dáil Éireann not later than three months after the date of the submission to him. It is the intention to comply with this legislation and the report will be laid before Dáil Éireann before 1 January 2002.
