Question:

60 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Defence his plans to upgrade the accommodation and facilities at Stephen's Barracks, County Kilkenny; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30596/01]

Recently, refurbishment works in upgrading accommodation blocks have been carried out at James Stephen's Barracks at a cost of £65,000 or 82,533. The works carried out included the following: replacement of windows and ceilings, roof repairs, eradication of dry rot, supplying fire doors, cubicilisation of rooms, rewiring and provision of central heating.

Planning is at an advanced stage for upgrading works in 2002 and a decision will be made shortly.
