Vol. 545 No. 5

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

121 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Finance his proposals to decentralise part of the Office of Public Works to Dungarvan, County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31033/01]

I am determined that decisions in relation to a new programme of decentralisation should be taken only after proper deliberation. In view of my determination in this regard, I am not in a position to say definitively when the Government will be in a position to take decisions in relation to such a programme other than to say that such decisions will be taken as soon as is practicable after the conclusion of the ongoing deliberations. Nor, therefore, am I in a position to comment on the likelihood of any particular Department or office or location being included in the programme.
