Vol. 545 No. 5

Written Answers. - Medicinal Products.

Liz McManus

Question:

140 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the fact that products such as fish oils and royal jelly, which are available for sale in pharmacies and supermarkets, will now have to be registered with the Irish Medicines Board under the new rules on the safety and licensing of medicines; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31135/01]

I assume that the Deputy is referring to the Irish Medicines Board's report on the development of an interim national licensing system for traditional and herbal medicinal products. As the report is currently the subject of a public consultation process by the Irish Medicines Board, it would not be appropriate for me to comment until such time as the final report is submitted and its contents considered within my Department.
