Vol. 545 No. 5

Written Answers. - Violence Against Women.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

157 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Health and Children the progress which has been made regarding the implementation of the recommendations of the April 1997 report of the Task Force on Violence against Women; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31173/01]

The implementation of the recommendations of the April 1997 report of the Task Force on Violence against Women has implications for a number of Departments, including my Department. To oversee and co-ordinate the implementation of the report's recommendations a national steering committee was established under the chairmanship of the Minister of State at the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Deputy Mary Wallace. My Department has made arrangements for that Department to co-ordinate a response directly to the Deputy.
