Question:

90 Mr. McDowell asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of abortions carried out on Irish women in the UK for each year since records began; the figures for 2001 up to the latest date for which figures are available; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30900/01]

Figures provided by the Office for National Statistics, London, indicate that the number of abortions performed in England and Wales on women who gave Irish addresses in each year from 1970, the earliest year for which such information is available, to June 2001 is as follows:
