Vol. 546 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Emmet Stagg

Question:

102 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the Master of the Coombe Hospital has directed that only one person is allowed into the hospital per patient attending in an emergency between the hours of 9 p.m. and 8 a.m.; if his attention has further been drawn to a case (details supplied); his views on whether this is a satisfactory way to treat people; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31188/01]

Responsibility for the provision of hospital services to residents of Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has therefore, asked the regional chief executive of the authority to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.
